Stress is no longer an exception, but an everyday experience.
It's present not only at work, but also in our families, our decisions, and our thoughts.
For a long time, I also believed that circumstances caused it.
Deadlines.
The pressure to conform.
Too many tasks.
Others' expectations.
Today, I see it differently.
Stress doesn't merely stem from what happens to us, but from how we relate to it.
And this realisation was a turning point for me.
It's not the essential oil first. It's the attitude.
It's important that I state this at the outset.
It's not the essential oil that saves you.
Not a technique.
Not a method.
But awareness.
The moment I recognise:
"I'm stressed right now."
"I'm anxious right now."
"This is too much right now."
In the past, I would just carry on. I'd push through the day. Tense, impatient, my mind racing.
Today, I know that stress is not an enemy. It's a signal.
A signal from my nervous system that something is too much, too fast, too intense.
The question isn't whether there's stress in my life.
But what I do with it.
Do I recognise it?
And if I recognise it – do I act?
Do I go for a jog?
Do I take a walk in the fresh air?
Do I sit in silence for 10 minutes?
Do I read a few pages?
Do I switch off my phone?
Or do I remain in tension because "I don't have time to deal with this right now"?
Essential oils are wonderful supporters.
But they don't replace common sense.
They don't replace exercise.
They don't replace rest.
They don't replace setting boundaries.
They only support. We have to make the decision.
What happens inside us under stress?
When we experience stress, our nervous system reacts automatically. The sympathetic nervous system, the "fight or flight" mode, is activated.
Heart rate increases.
Cortisol is released.
Muscles tense.
Thinking narrows.
This is biology. Not weakness.
The problem begins when we live in this state long-term. When our body doesn't get the opportunity to return to a state of safety and calm.
Chronic stress doesn't destroy overnight. But slowly.
With sleep disturbances.
Impatience.
Exhaustion.
Loss of motivation.
And often we don't even notice, because "everyone lives like this".
But you don't have to live like this.
The Role of Self-Perception
For me, stress management didn't start with techniques.
But with self-examination.
What thoughts repeat in my mind?
What internal statements drive me?
"I can't make mistakes."
"I have to solve everything."
"If I stop, I'll fall behind."
I realised that much stress is generated not by external situations, but by my internal expectations.
When I started consciously questioning these, something changed.
This is the essence of mental reframing.
- Am I sure I really have to do everything?
- What would happen if I said no right now?
- Is this situation truly dangerous – or just uncomfortable?
The nervous system cannot differentiate between real danger and a perceived threat. That's why it's important to consciously work on our internal narrative.
My Own Daily Routine for Stability
Over the years, I've developed a simple, sustainable system.
It's not perfect.
It doesn't always work.
But it provides direction.
Morning Foundation
I don't start my morning with my phone.
5 minutes of abdominal breathing.
1 glass of lukewarm water, often with doTERRA Lemon essential oil (only with appropriate quality oil suitable for internal use).
3 thoughts I'm grateful for.
Often doTERRA Wild Orange or Lemon in the diffuser; citrus scents represent a fresh, clean start for me.
This isn't magic. This is state-building.
Mid-day Nervous System Regulation
If I feel myself becoming tense:
I stop.
4-4-6 breathing.
doTERRA Balance on my wrists.
The Balance grounding blend. It helps me come back into my body, into the present. But the essence isn't the oil itself – it's that I stop.
I interrupt the automatic reaction.
Movement as Stress Release
For me, running is one of the most powerful tools.
When I run, my thoughts clear. The tension physically leaves. My body does what it was primed for under stress: it moves.
It's not always running. Sometimes just a walk. But without movement, there's no real stress release.
Evening Wind-Down
Screen-free time.
Lavender foot bath (doTERRA Lavender mixed with sea salt).
Serenity blend in the diffuser.
Short end-of-day writing.
Sleep is not a luxury. It's the regeneration of the nervous system.
The Place of Essential Oils in the System
Many ask: do they really work?
Scents directly affect the limbic system – our emotional centre. A well-chosen scent can shift your state.
What I use regularly:
doTERRA Balance – for grounding
doTERRA Lavender – for calm
doTERRA Serenity – for sleep
doTERRA Frankincense – for deepening
doTERRA Wild Orange – for mood enhancement
But I always emphasise:
Essential oil supports.
It doesn't replace.
It doesn't solve boundary issues.
It doesn't speak for us in a difficult conversation.
It doesn't go for a run for us.
The responsibility is ours.
This isn't just another stress management method
In my online presentation, I talk about:
- what happens in the body and nervous system under stress
- how it affects our thinking
- how we can regulate our nervous system
- what tools can be incorporated into everyday life
I don't want to convey theory, but a perspective.
If you want to better understand your own reactions,
if you want to live consciously, not just survive,
if you want to recognise the signs – and truly act on them,
then this occasion is for you.
This is not "just another stress management presentation".
But a decision for yourself.
